A tragic helicopter crash in Newton County has resulted in the death of one person, with another individual on the ground sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. on CR 2048, involving a Rotorcraft OH-58A+ used for agricultural services.

The pilot, the sole occupant of the helicopter, died at the scene. A person near a fuel truck was injured after being struck by the helicopter’s landing skids and was taken to CHRISTUS Jasper Memorial Hospital.



 Authorities, including the FAA and NTSB, are investigating the cause of the crash.
